As the air becomes crisper, the food gets fattier and holiday parties become a weekly occurrence, it’s tough to keep those extra pounds off. The struggle is real.
But listen up, Undressed Babes! We’ve got few tips to help keep those sneaky holiday pounds off and maintain your summer bod through these fall and winter months.
Check out Undressed Fashion’s 5 tips for staying in shape this holiday season:
Workout … inside: Yep, you read that right. When the temperatures drop, and the days get shorter, it’s so hard to muster up enough motivation to go to the gym or run outdoors. We feel your pain. Luckily, there are some pretty good options for getting in a quick workout at the end of the day. Home workouts! YouTube your favorite fitness guru or workout channel and work up a sweat from the comforts of your own living room -- even your dog will be happy you stayed in (and probably jump all over you). YouTube channels like PopSugar Fitness have a TON of different home workouts from 15-45 minute videos focusing on strength and cardio. Yoga with Adriene is great for satisfying your inner Yogi and Amanda Russell has easy workouts tailored for different parts of your body.
Get up and move: With colder weather upon us, we’re all spending more nights in cuddled up on the sofa, rather than tearing up the dance floor at our favorite club. And if you work a typical 9-5 during the week, you’re spending even more time sitting down. An easy fix for this – move around! Sounds simple, but it really makes a difference. Take breaks to walk around at work. Spend those evenings in getting sh*t done like the boss babe you are. You know what works up a nice little sweat? Cleaning! Throw on your favorite music and get to work. You’ll feel so good after you get that shower scrubbed and you’ll have burned some serious calories in the process. Use these nights in to catch up on some early spring cleaning – clear out that closet (to make room for your new stuff, of course), box up summer clothes, or get your decorations organized. The most important part is that you stay active.
Deep breath in, deep breath out and manage your stress: Aside from all the yummy food and beverages, the holidays can definitely add some extra stress. Whether it’s deadlines with work, holiday gifting, an envious social calendar or one too many family get-togethers, it’s important that you find ways to manage your stress and remain the calm, cool and collected babe you are. Besides wreaking havoc on your general health, stress also raises cortisol in your body which, in short, makes it a lot harder to burn fat.
Eat smart: This one seems obvious, but life is all about balance – right? Whether you’re attending parties or cooking for yourself or friends, try to look up some healthy alternatives to your favorite holiday recipes. Check out the Food Network's Healthy Holiday Recipes for some food inspo. We suggest looking for low-carb dishes packed with protein and veggies with enough of that sweet and savory taste to satisfy your cravings.
Be a goal-setter: Why wait until New Year’s Days to set some new goals? That’s so last year. Make your resolutions, goals (whatever you want to call them), now! Don’t let yourself slack in December and January, start setting diet and fitness goals today and working to achieve them. Find that healthy balance between living your best life and being your best self. Your bikini will thank you come May.
